Candles

How does our wax differ from that of other brands?

All of our products are made with 100% natural soy & beeswax.

Benefits of Soy Wax:

  1. Renewable and Clean: Derived from soybeans, it's renewable and burns cleanly, reducing soot and air pollution.
  2. Eco-Friendly: Biodegradable, contributing to environmentally friendly disposal.
  3. Long Burn Time: Offers a longer burn time compared to some other waxes.

Benefits of Beeswax:

  1. Natural and Purifying: Non-toxic, emits negative ions for air purification.
  2. Long Lasting: Typically has a longer burn time.
  3. Drip-Resistant: Higher melting point makes it drip-resistant in certain candle applications.

Most big brand candles are made with Parraffin Wax:

  • Non-Renewable Source: Derived from petroleum, a finite and non-renewable resource.
  • Soot Emission: Can produce soot when burned, leading to potential indoor air pollution and respiratory irritation.
  • Toxic Emissions: May emit toxins during combustion, posing health concerns over prolonged exposure.
  • Shorter Burn Time: Typically has a shorter burn time compared to some alternative waxes.
  • Non-Biodegradable: Paraffin wax is not biodegradable, contributing to long-term environmental issues.

How can I make my candle's scent throw stronger?

For the best fragrance diffusion in a candle, it's strongly advised to let the candle cure for a week before lighting. Simply place it in a dark, dry space, steering clear of sunlight and humidity during this one-week period. Doing this will greatly increase the scent throw of the candle after.

We regret that we're unable to pre-cure candles since we create them upon receiving orders. We understand your desire for prompt delivery and wouldn't want to extend your wait for the candles.

Can I burn my decorative candle?

Decorative candles are designed for decorative purposes and they are able to give off a cold scent throw even if it is not lit. However, if you are intending to burn candle, please make sure to read our Candle Care before burning.

AhLian Candles is not responsible for any misuse of our products. We will not be liable for any injuries or loss resulting from the inappropriate use of our products. Please follow the safety instructions indicated in our Candle Care page.

Why are there imperfections in my candles?

Noticed imperfections on your candles such as bumpy surface, sweating, air bubbles, wet spots or frosting?

These imperfections do happen sometimes for soy wax due to temperature change in the surrounding and it is not a defect.

All of these symptoms are common as the soy wax that we use to make our candles is made out of 100% vegetable wax and contains no added chemicals or preservatives.

Candle Color

Color bleeding is common for some candles with more than 1 color as dyes are used to color our candles instead of pigments.

Dyes are our preferred choice instead of pigments as they do not clog the wick when burning the candle.

All of these small imperfections stated above will absolutely not affect the way your candle burns or smells and we will not be accepting any of these defects as reason for refunds/exchange.

Fragrance Oil vs Essential Oil

At AhLian Candles, all our products are made with high quality phthalate-free fragrance oils.

Fragrance Oil:

  • Diverse Scents: Fragrance oils offer a wide variety of scents, allowing for creative and unique candle fragrances that may not be available in essential oils.
  • Consistent Scent: Fragrance oils provide a more consistent and potent scent throughout the entire burn of the candle, ensuring a reliable and lasting fragrance experience.
  • Long-Lasting: Fragrance oils often have a longer shelf life, preserving their scent quality over time and maintaining the integrity of the candle's fragrance.
  • Stability: Fragrance oils are less prone to oxidation and evaporation compared to some essential oils, ensuring a stable and reliable scent profile for the candles.

Essential Oil:

  • Subtle Scents: Some essential oils have a more subtle fragrance compared to their synthetic counterparts, which may result in a milder scent throw in candles.
  • Volatility: Essential oils are more volatile and can evaporate more quickly than fragrance oils, potentially leading to a shorter-lasting scent in candles.
  • Sensitivity to Heat: Essential oils are sensitive to heat, and their aromatic compounds can break down under high temperatures, potentially affecting the quality of the scent during burning.
  • Not Always Environmentally Friendly: While derived from natural sources, the cultivation and extraction of certain essential oils may have environmental implications.
